Seismographs acquired by help of IAEA to be implemented around ANPP

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. There is a permanent danger of disaster or crisis in any country. And in this respect regular and operative activity of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is of a certain importance. The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Armen Yeritsyan had a conversation with "Armenpress" regarding the opportunities of Armenia in this realm, its recent achievements and work to be done.
- Mr. Minister, how would You asses the readiness of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to struggle against the disasters?
- The Ministry of Emergency Situations is the youngest ministry of the Republic of Armenia, which has been formatted only four years ago. In a short period of time the whole structures of the administration of emergency situations have come together. Among them are rescuers, seismic, hydrometer, anti-hailstone services, centre of technical security, State Academy of Crisis Administration and many others. The whole our divisions are united and support each other. The whole international humanitarian organizations stand beside us.
- How would You characterize the activity of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in 2012? What level is the technical maintenance of the Ministry on? And what steps do You consider to undertake in this direction next year?
- I have always been abstained in my assessments and I will characterize the activity as satisfactory. A number of representatives visited our country from 25 various countries and international organizations. The UN recognized Armenia as the country of best experience and great achievements acquired in the short period of time in the sphere of reduction of risks. Notwithstanding, we always search for new ways to find solutions to those problems our country has to face with and to enrich our technical basis. The seismographic system consisting of 6 modern digital seismographs acquired by help of IAEA will be implemented around ANPP in Metsamor. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
