YEREVAN, DECEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. Current situation in Damascus is intense particularly around Yamruk camp of the Palestinian refugees. Our compatriot living in Damascus informed "Armenpress" about this. In addition he said that the army surrounded the aforesaid camp and started bombing it. According to him the whole residents of Yamruk have already been evacuated.
It is certain that the majority of residents are refugees from Palestine and Syrians, there are no Armenians among them. The rebels invaded Yamruk and attempted to get closer to the Presidential Palace. It is expected that a tough fight will flare up between the armed rebels and governmental forces.
Regarding the situation in Aleppo the Press Secretary of the Armenian Prelacy in Aleppo Jirayr Reisian stated that the electricity is being restored, notwithstanding from time to time it is interrupted. Among other things Reisian said that although the Government spares no effort trying to find solution for the deficit of bread, currently the situation in Aleppo having 5-6 million population is rather difficult. Also he stated that there is no gas even for making daily food.
Clashes in Syria lasting about 21 months caused death of about 40 thousand people.
