Participants of Armenian-Russian joint expedition reveal huge tourism potential of Armenia

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 3, ARMENPRESS: The initiator-organizers of the first Armenian-Russian joint tourism campaign, held in Armenia, were hosted by the General Consul of the Russian Federation to Gyumri Vasili Korchmar on October 2. According to Armenpress, Korchmar highly evaluated the initiative of the campaign to foster the tourism development in Armenia and especially emphasized the tourism attractiveness of the town of Gyumri. "Your mission is: coming to Armenia bring your friends and tourists to the country", - stated the General Consul of Russia.
The participants of the campaign, accompanied by the General Consul of the Russian Federation and the Russian Border Detachment Command, visited the Honor Hill Memorial of Gyumri, paying tribute to the Russian and Armenian soldiers, who died for the fatherland. The participants of the campaign were received on the highest level by the Russian Border Detachment Commander in Gyumri the Colonel Yuri Aysin, serving dinner in their honor.
The Vice Rector of the Russian International Academy for Tourism Yuri Lagusev expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the long-term Russian friendship. "In Armenia we feel at home", - said the Vice Rector. He stated that the Armenian hospitality and directness are one of the most important pledges for the tourism development.
The guests visited as well the 4th century Yereruyk Temple and watched the ruins of Ani. The participants of the campaign day by day reveal the huge potential of the tourism of Armenia and the indescribable beauty of the nature.
In the framework of the third day of the tourism campaign the participants visited the Sardarapat Memorial, got acquainted with the samples of the museum and tasted the tandoori Armenian lavash in intimate environment, enjoying the color of the village environment.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic Armenia and the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Armenia the first joint scientific and tourism campaign has been held from September 30 to October 9, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishment of the Armenian-Russian diplomatic relations.
The campaign, which is attended by the Russian International Academy for Tourism and Armenian Tourism Institute, was launched from the city of Yerevan and involves the cities of Gyumri, Dilijan, Sevan, Goris, Kapan, Meghri, Oshakan and Etchmiadzin.
One of the key aims of the campaign is the development of the young tourism, as well as the strengthening and deepening of the friendly relations between Russia and Armenia. It aims as well at revealing new tourism resources, fostering of the formation of a new competitive "tourism outcome" and proper presentation of Armenia in the Russian tourism market.
