Wushu festival to be held in Yerevan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS: On the occasion of 21st anniversary of Armenian Independence and 20th anniversary of Armenian Traditional Wushu federation there will be a Wushu festival in "Mika"stadium on September 29. As Armenpress was informed from Armenian Wushu Federation president Tigran Chobanyan representatives of karate, aikido and other sports will also participate in the festival.

According to Chobganyan Armenian sportsmen managed to find their place in this sport during these 20 years. And now they are in World’s top 5.

As a Sport Wushu has been developed in Armenia since early 1970. The Traditional Wushu Federation of Armenia (TWF of Armenia) was founded in 1993. From September 1, 1998 the Federation has been a member of Armenian National Olympic Committee. In November 1997 it has become a member of International Wushu Federation (IWUF). The Federation unifies about 5000 sportsmen all over the Republic.
