Charles Aznavour visited Saint Echmiadzin church in Tbilisi

YEREVAN, AUGUST 16, ARMENPRESS: French Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour in a visit to Georgia by an invitation of President Mikheil Saakashvili attended Armenian Apostolic Church Holy Echmiadzin church in the previous day of his scheduled visit to Akhaltskha. As Georgian Armenian Diocese press service told Armenpress, Georgian Armenians dense crowd gathered in Havlabar’s Saint Echmiadzin church yard greeted their famous compatriot.

Armenian Apostolic church Georgian Diocese Archbishop Vazgen Sargsyan, Armenian spiritual leaders, Tbilisi society accompanied by Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Georgia Hovhannes Manukyan welcomed the singer in the yard of the church.

Charles Aznavour’s meeting with Tbilisi Armenian Community representatives hosted in ‘’Hayartun’’ cultural center’s Galust Gyulbenkyan hall followed it.

Welcoming great benefactor Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia Hovhannes Manukyan presented the love and respect of Tbilisi Armenians towards their famous compatriot. The Ambassador recalled with warmth the meeting of local Armenians with His Holiness Supreme Patriarch Karekin II.

French Armenian chansonnier was honored with an official dinner on behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenian to Georgia.

Aznavour arrived Georgia accompanied by 22 musicians to partake in the opening concert of ‘’Rabat’’ restored castle in Akhaltskha. It is the first time world famous singer is going to come forth with a concert in his ancestors’ land.
