Henrikh Mkhitaryan does not have favorites in “EURO 2012”

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS: Midfielder of Armenian national football team Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave an interview to official website of “Shaktar” FC. Armenpress partly presents the interview:

- Henrikh, your side found the back of the net after only two minutes. Did you try to make up for the past failure asap, or you were just tasked with scoring an early goal?

- The opposition in that moment made a mistake, with Ilsinho just capitalising on it. But to score a quick goal is always a pleasure, it gives confidence and makes it easier to perform tasks for the match. We won’t mind if it pans out just so in the games to follow.

- Could you highlight any of the friendlies you’ve been through?

- All of our games are interesting; they select such teams so that they are fun to play. We have already had matches with Terek, Rubin and Torpedo this time. And each of those encounters was really fun to watch.

- What made this opposition any different from the previous ones?

- Torpedo played very well, they held onto the ball, trying to move away from pressure, organising some attacking moves. And the Georgians had moments to score. But we were stronger, so we won deservedly.

-Does Mister decide on the best player based on those matches?

- I do not know. (smiling) Did he tell you anything? If the team wins – that’s superfine.

- Can you admit that you are missing the league games?

- Sooner or later the league season will kick off. And we already want to play, looking forward to meeting the fans in the stadium. We will give our all to please them with our performance and wins.

- The day after tomorrow Donetsk will host the EURO 2012 semifinal. Will you root for Spain or Portugal?

- For the strongest. (laughing) They already asked me this, but I have no favorites. The team which is better prepared both mentally and physically will win. The team who try their darndest to grind out a win.
