State symbols’ copyright issue is regulated on inter-state level

YEREVAN, MARCH 2, ARMENPRESS. The symbol of currency is one of the state symbols. The copyright issue of it and disputes over it are being regulated on inter-state level, lawyer Arpine Hovhannissyan said, commenting on the similarity of the new symbol of Turkish lire with the Armenian dram’s symbol. “Each such work has copyright and is being regulated by the mental property legislation. But the state, announcing a tender, buys the right of using the created mental property and thus the author cannot use it any more,” the lawyer said, adding that at the same time the Armenian Constitution does not regulate the classification of the symbol of Armenian dram among the state symbols. “We know that flag, coat of arms, anthem are classified among state symbols but not dram’s symbol,” Arpine Hovhannissyan said.
