Armenian Peacekeepers return from Afghanistan with medals

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian peacekeepers' shift returns from Afghanistan February 21. Arthur Simonyan, Commander General of the Armed Forces' Peacekeeping brigade, told Armenpress like during the previous years this time as well the German Commandership is pleased with the service of the Armenian peacekeepers in Kunduz.

"All the 40 peacekeepers were awarded NATO medals. All the servicemen of the new shift have been deployed in Kunduz," Simonyan said.

Starting from February 2010, the Armenian Armed Forces subdivision has been included in the International Security Assistance Force operations in Afghanistan (ISAF) under German Commandership and ensures security of the airport of Kunduz. Before departing for Afghanistan the Armenian troops pass 3-4 week training in Germany.
