Police forwards ultimatum to ecologists in Mashtots park

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, ARMENPRESS: The ecologists continue their struggle for Mashtots park. Representatives of the Police stated that if the protesters do not leave the territory of the park in the sensible timeframe, they will be subjected to responsibility. The ecologists though refuse to leave the territory claiming that they will not allow construction in the territory of the park.

A number of intellectuals, singers are in the park. Singer Aramo, film director Hrant Vardanyan and few intellectuals met with Yerevan mayor today who said the shops will be placed there temporarily. "I agree that the park belongs to people, it is necessary to preserve it. It is of temporary nature and we believe the mayor's words," Aramo said speaking to Armenpress.
