By February 27 President Serzh Sargsyan will sign a decree appointing the day of elections, newspaper says

The daily Haykakan Zhamanak claims by February 27 President Serzh Sargsyan will sign a decree appointing the day of elections. The paper says the elections may be conducted in the period between April 28 and May 8. The paper says in the mentioned ten-day time there are two Sundays April 29 and May 6. The paper also says that the past parliamentary elections were held on Saturday, May 12. In any case the parliamentary elections may take place either on Saturday or Sunday, as unlike presidential elections, the day of parliamentary elections is not set by the law as a day-off. The paper says it is almost clear that the Armenian authorities have planned to conduct elections May 6. In this case, the paper continues, the nominations of candidates in proportional and majority systems must start from March 12 and last for 10 days. The paper claims that the day of the Republican Party’s congress scheduled on March 17 initially and moved to March 10 later is agreed with it. Otherwise the RPA would have appeared in panic in respect of nominating candidates, the paper concludes.
The daily Hraparak writes the leadership of the Rule of Law Party met with the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan late in the evening Thursday [February 16]. The paper says over a rich table the participants of the meeting discussed a number of issues, after which President Serzh Sargsyan departed. The paper says afterward, Arthur Baghdasaryan, leader of the party, publicized the names of the first three candidates in the proportional list of the party: they are - Arthur Baghdasaryan, Heghine Bisharyan and Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan, though initially news were circulating that the number 3 will be Mher Shahgeldyan. Arthur Baghdasaryan stated that the list will be published at the congress of the party March 3.
The daily Zhoghovurd writes it has learnt that the head of Armenia’s chief civic aviation department Artyem Movsisyan has been relieved of his duties. Moreover, recently he was in Kiev for a “business trip”. The paper says according to rumors, the head of the department will be son-in-law of chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan. The paper says it was trying to contact with Movsisyan for several days but could not. The paper spoke with the head of staff of the civic aviation department Sahak Hakobyan who said he does not possess such information, “Mr Movsisyan is on a business trip, I do not know anything else. On Monday he will come to work,” Hakobyan told the daily. Let us wait till Monday, the paper concludes.
