Government of Armenia refuses legislative initiative to pass to 100% proportional election system

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 9, ARMENPRESS: The government of Armenia refused the legislative initiative of a number of MPs to pass to 100% proportional election system. At the cabinet sitting today deputy minister of justice Grigor Muradyan said the existence of this or that election system is agreed with various circumstances. "The unanimous selection of any system has no connection with the efficiency of elections. Armenia, as a state with semi-presidential system of governance must have majority election system in parallel with the proportional one to ensure an opportunity to present interests of certain sector of population," Muradyan said.
