Karekin II address a letter to Pashazade

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS:

His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians addressed a letter to the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board Sheykhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade. Armenpress reports that the news was confirmed by director of the Holy See Information Service Rev. Vahram Melikyan.

In the letter the Catholicos welcomed the visit of the Sheykh to Armenia within the framework of the Inter-Religious Council of the CIS countries. He noted that the meetings of the spiritual leaders of the region and joint discussions have important contribution to the solution of a number of issues, including the Karabakh conflict.

"With the efforts of the Russian Orthodox Church and mediation of Patriarch Kiril our previous meetings and our calls for peace to the peoples and governments of our countries were important steps on the way to formation of atmosphere of trust," the letter runs.

November 28-29 sitting of the CIS Inter-Religious Council took place in Yerevan with the participation of leaders and representatives of traditional religions.
