Export volumes will reach 3.5 billion USD in 2015

With the strategy of development of Armenia's industry the current 1,7 billion USD volume of export is expected to reach 3.5 billion in 2015 and 5-6 billion USD in 2020, chairman of the NA's Finance-Crediting and Budget Affairs Standing Committee Gagik Minasyan told a news conference today. The strategy directed toward the industrial development of export will be presented at the economic seminar of the Republican Party of Armenia.

Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan said the strategy has been worked out in collaboration with the World Bank, international organizations, experts and private sector.

The industrial strategy of export includes eleven branches– cognac-making, diamond processing, jewelry, textile industry, pharmaceutics and biotechnologies, production of canned food, wine-making, etc.

The seminar will also present development programs for cognac-making, pharmaceutics and in exact device making spheres worked out with private sector. "The strategic programs in these spheres suppose sharp increase of export volumes and clear export programs," the minister said.

"It is expected that in long-tem prospect the strategy will bring diversification of economy and export structure. It will highlight private sector-state cooperation," Tigran Davtyan noted.

The minister said the strategy will be one of the important components of the pre-electoral economic program of the Republican Party.

The RPA economic seminar will take place December 4 in Tumo center.
