YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS:

RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s two-day official visit to Georgia wrapped up today – hours ago. Within the framework of the visit, a number of cooperation documents of utmost importance were signed, which may have essential influence on development of relations of the two countries. Armenpress interviewed about this with Armenian advisor of Georgia's president Van Bayburd.

-Mr. Bayburd, Armenian President’s visit to Georgia wrapped up hours ago. Which was the main significance of that visit for development of Armenian-Georgian relations?

-I want to mention, that the impressions from that visit were very positive. During the recent 20 years I have been present at almost all the Armenian-Georgian high-level meetings.

Since independence of Armenia and Georgia, our relations have been very normal and good; the relations have been at a very high-level during these years, since 1991. But what I see during the recent 2-3 years is the very dynamic development of the relations. These relations have become very sincere and trustworthy. The relations of our newly-independent states at this level are for the first time. This says much.

-Armenian President also had a meeting with the local Armenian community. In what kind of atmosphere was the meeting held? Did the community representatives receive answers to the questions exciting them?

-The meeting with the community was very interesting. I think the community was satisfied with the meeting. I would like to mention that no complaints were voiced, and a productive discussion was running. The decrease of the pupils of Tbilisi Armenian schools was also touched upon.

-During the meeting the bilateral relations were also referred. Which ones among the reached agreements are more essential?

-You know, that an Armenian-Georgian business forum was also held with participation of the Presidents of the two countries. I already mentioned about the sincere relations, an example of its was manifested that time: the Armenian President noted that the Armenian party has a kind jealousy toward the development of Georgia, in this regard he noted that he cannot prohibit Armenian businessmen from coming and making investments in Georgia. And the Georgian President said that there are many issues Georgia should follow Armenia.

The documents, by which the crossing of the borders was facilitated, were very important, too. Hope was expressed that our borders will be transparent, like they are today in Europe. The development of the economic relations of our countries is very dynamic.

-How do you imagine the development process of Armenian-Georgian relations in future?

-In one of my interviews I compared the Armenian-Georgian relations with a skyscraper. Truly, our relations resemble it; today we put a large brick. So, symbolically put down, that skyscraper is not limited by 40 or 50 storeys, and goes on rising. Our next generations will do that. “Construction of that building” has picked up speed especially during the recent 2-3 years.
