The daily Zhoghovurd writes that the unexpected resignations of two Karen Karapetyans show that the Russian-oriented figures are gradually leaving the country. The paper says no matter how much the former mayor of Yerevan tries not to politicize the issue and say that his resignation is connected with passing to another job, it is not so. Citing its sources, the daily writes that two days before Karapetyan did not know that he must submit resignation application.
In any case, the paper continues, the row of resignations will continue and all those who have ties with the Russian political establishment will leave the authorities.
The daily Hraparak writes that Aram Kandayan former employee of the President’s protocol service has been dismissed from this office about ten days ago. The paper reminds that about a year ago former mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglarayan was forced to file a resignation application for beating up this young man. The paper says according to rumors Kandayan was to assume an office at the RA Foreign Ministry but it has been found out that he is not working there. He was dismissed from the office with the decree of the RA president. The paper says the dismissal of Kandayan may be a gesture to Gagik Beglaryan but rumors are circulating that he made a very serious mistake of protocol during RA president’s visit to the USA.
The daily Yerkir writes that according to its sources several scenarios are currently being discussed in the Republican Party of Armenia for replacing Yerevan mayor. The paper says the most possible variant is appointment of an acting mayor and after parliamentary elections in May, snap elections of Yerevan Council of Elders will take place. The paper says names of several candidates are being circulated but the most probable is the appointment of deputy mayor Taron Margaryan.
Speaking to the paper member of the RPA Gagik Melikyan rejected the information about the conduction of snap elections of mayor after the conduction of parliamentary ones.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that soon mayor of Abovyan Karo Guloyan, who is son-in-law of Gagik Tsarukyan, will be dismissed from the office. Citing its sources, the daily says that such an order was given by the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan.
According to the circulating rumors, father of Abovyan mayor, member of the Prosperous Armenia party’s parliamentary faction Murad Guloyan has twice met with the prime minister over this issue. The paper says the information was not officially confirmed. It is said that Guloyan will be dismissed after the checking of the Oversight Chamber in the municipality. The paper says neither Tsarukyan, nor his spokesman answered the phone calls.
