Eduard Sharmazanov: Armenian President’s speech was the speech of a leader of democratic country

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS:

The speech of the President of the Republic Serzh Sargsyan at the UN GA was the speech of a leader of democratic country, Pan-Armenian leader, spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told a news conference today. In his speech the president made few remarks referring to the issues that are of prior significance for Armenian people. Sharmazanov said one of them is that democratic reforms and freedoms must continue in Armenia, "it is the path Armenia has chosen".

President clearly noted that the triumphant campaign of the right of people to self-determination continues and drew parallels between the South Sudan and Nagorno Karabakh, which Sharmazanov said was targeted and accomplished.

The parliamentarian rated high the reference to the issue on condemning genocide. "Leader of people who suffered genocide raised the issue on condemning it, noting that as far as the international community has not condemned the genocides, there is a threat of its repetition in 21st century", Sharmazanov said.

Referring to the Karabakh issue, Sharmazanov noted that Serzh Sargsyan has clearly pointed out the unconstructive approaches of Azerbaijan which become reason of stagnation. Serzh Sargsyan said the OSCE Minsk group format is clearly operating but every time Azerbaijan takes the process to a deadlock.
