Seyran Ohanyan: Our armed forces are not created for military parade only, they are able to prove all this in practice

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS:

"Our armed forces are not created for military parade only, they are able to prove all this in practice", Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan stated today at a briefing with reporters after the military parade in the Republic Square.

"This parade is for the public. Besides, with it we show our enemies and the international community that we have progressive army which is not only able to ensure our security but implement different activities in different parts of the world", Ohanyan pointed out.

The minister noted that the 20th anniversary of independence is a great achievement and these 20 years gave opportunity to all the civil agencies and the army display themselves.

"I think these 20 years gave us opportunity to make in-depth analysis of the security environment and threats existing around Armenia", Seyran Ohanyan said, adding that today all the power wings in Armenia have their contribution to ensuring security of the country. "And you have seen during the parade what Armed Forces we have", the minister stressed.

In response to the question how he sees the Armenian armed forces after 20 years, Ohanyan expressed hope that it will be more battle-worthy, disciplined and having more opportunities "both in respect of readiness of soldiers and defense technology".
