YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS:

There is no reason for anyone to doubt the firmness and longevity of the Armenian-Russian relations, director of the CIS Institute Konstantin Zatulin said at the Yerevan-Moscow space bridge on the "The present and the future of the Armenian-Russian relations: Ahead of 20th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia". He said Russia has a very clear position in the issues which are of vital significance for Armenia.

"Of course Russia is trying to preserve warm relations with Armenia's neighbors – Turkey and Azerbaijan at the same time developing economic ties with them. But these relations are not being built contrary to Armenia", Zatulin said, adding that the Russian-Turkish and Russian-Azerbaijani economic ties may serve as a restricting factor for solving regional conflicts.

Referring to the unsuccessful attempt of establishment of Armenian-Turkish relations Zatulin assured that with its participation Russia proved that it is interested in regional stability and establishment of long-lasting peace.

"Though Russia is trying to reconcile Armenia with its neighbors, at the same time it rea,ins just in front of the history and recognizes the cases that are undeniable like for instance the recognition of the fact of genocide in 1995 by Russia", Zatulin said.
