YEREVAN, AUGUST 8, ARMENPRESS:
The anti-Armenian hysteria, the policy with anti-Armenian logic goes on in Turkey, Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan says commenting on the fact that Hurriyet accepted the critical remark on misinterpreting RA President Serzh Sargsyan's statement in response to one of the participants of Armenology Olympiad in Tsakhkadzor.
The Turkologist says anything can cause illogical and misrepresented statements by Turkish high officials. He said the mass media in Turkey, regardless their views, often serve the authorities and their political goals, especially when the matter concerns policy with Armenia. According to Ruben Melkonyan, it is funny that the Turkish foreign minister, prime minister and then the president made their analyses on the basis of a mistranslation by Hurriyet.
"We see that a big state like Turkey and the whole state apparatus thereof relies on a mistranslated article by a newspaper," the Turkologist said. He says it is possible the Turkish officials made such statements knowing that the translation was not appropriate in order "to make some noise".
