The daily Hayots Ashkhar writes representative of the Orinats Yerkir party Khachik Harutyunyan told the daily that the expediency of the snap elections must be discussed. He told the paper that the outcome of discussion may be either positive or negative. "We have stated many times and now too we believe that there are no political and legal prerequisites for conduction of snap elections in the country. If they prove us the opposite, we will think over the further steps", the paper cited him as saying.

The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes about the yesterday's sitting of the political council of the Armenian National Congress. The paper says that the ANC coordinator Levon Zurabyan said they focused on the authorities-opposition dialogue and expressed satisfaction over the results of the past two meetings. The paper says in response to the question whether September will be active period for rallies, Zurabyan said "The essence and intensity of the events will naturally depend on the process of negotiations".

The daily Azg writes at his meeting with the president of Poland a country which recently took over the EU chairmanship, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dd not miss one more chance to mention "20 per cent of Azerbaijani territories, one million refugees and four resolutions of the UN Security Council. However, the Azerbaijan-based Azadliq newspaper qualifies the Polish leader's visit to Baku as unfavorable for President Ilham Aliyev "in all aspects."

The paper writes at the news conference of the two presidents, responding to a question concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Polish president avoided supporting Azerbaijan's position. Moreover, he stressed the importance of peoples' right to self-determination. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved in a peaceful way. Peoples' right to self-determination is as important as the principle of territorial integrity, the Polish president said. The most dangerous is that some people view this problem in the context of geography and political situation, President Komorowski said. The newspaper points out contradictions in the statements by the Azeri and Polish leaders. Aliyev stated Azerbaijan is willing to cooperate with the European Union, and no contradictory opinions were voiced during discussions with the EU, the newspaper reports. By stating that the Azeri leader suggested that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with the EU in trade rather than to share the same values with it. The major contradiction between the statements made by Aliyev and Komorowski was that the former expects "no problems" with the EU, whereas the latter pointed out that the EU and Azerbaijan must share the same values. That is, the problems of "common values" remains unsettled, the paper writes. On the other hand, official Baku has shown that it has no intention to step back from its anti-democratic position, which "actually means one more headache for Aliyev," the paper concludes.
