“New Wave” international song contest kicks off July 26

YEREVAN, JULY 21, ARMENPRESS:

"New Wave" international song contest will be conducted July 26 in the Latvian town of Jurmala. Sixteen participants from 14 countries will perform in the three programs of the contest until July 31.

On the first contest day the participants will present world hits, on the second day hit of the mentioned country, on the third day each singer will present a song written for particularly himself/herself. In this year's contest Armenia is represented by singer Erik. During different years Armenia was represented by Emmy, Razmik Amyan, Mher, and others. The winner of the 2010 "New Wave" contest was Sona Shahgeldyan.

The idea on establishment of the contest in 2002 belongs to Igor Krutoy and Raymond Pauls. The contest is aimed at revealing not only talented singers of Russia, but other countries as well.
