The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev presented an ultimatum to the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Kazan saying that the next meeting will take place only if document on the NK conflict settlement will be signed. The daily says this information was published yesterday by Russian Komersant daily citing its Kremlin sources. The paper says the same source stated that Medvedev is very much disappointed from the Kazan meeting "so the next meeting will take place when the parties state about the readiness to sign the basic principles beforehand".
Under the title "INTER RAO EES" Hurries the daily Capital writes that not yet accomplishing the agreement on exploitation of Armenian Atomic Plant a new one will be signed. The current contract on accredited management of the plant ends in 2013 but "INTER RAO EES" says by the end of summer new contract will be signed with the Armenian side. The paper says chairman of the company's administration Boris Kovalchuk stated June 24 that he plans to sign new contract as he wants to specify certain legal details. The paper says it failed to clarify from both parties about the necessity of signing of the new contract. The paper says spokeswoman for Armenia's Energy and Natural Resources Ministry Lusine Harutyunyan said with the new contract only the time of the previous one is being prolonged. The paper says it is difficult to understand the necessity if taking into consideration that the contract of management of the plant was resigned in 2008 with five year term which means that the Russian company may manage it till 2013. The paper says it is also difficult to understand what conditions have changed that forced the parties to quit the operation of the contract and sign a new one.
The daily Aravot writes that the spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov stated on Saturday that the Kazan meeting of the presidents showed that, Azerbaijan, ignoring the statement of the three presidents of the Minsk group co-chairing countries and the logic of the negotiation process takes the issue to the deadlock and is not displaying constructive mood. "The official position of the Republican Party of Armenia is that the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan. Nagorno Karabakh is a consolidated republic and its status must be decided with the participation of the NK", the paper cited him as saying.
