YEREVAN, APRIL 25, ARMENPRESS: “The process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide expands and strengthens. I express my adoration to Armenians for their devotion, inflexibility in this issue”, Executive Director of the Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide, historian Israel Charny said speaking to Armenpress. He added that not only Armenians are fighting for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Charny said for preventing such crimes in future, each nation must be strong and well-organized. “We must fight together for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. But while we are fighting for the lives of people, I am sure many of us in future will die as a result of genocides: unfortunately the aggressor nations and terrorist groups never go to concessions in this issue”, the historian expressed concern, pointing out that our current life is also full of dangers, including the threats of Turkey, and particularly its Prime Minister Erdogan against Armenians, the global threats of mass annihilation of Jewish as well as the threats of terrorists which in many countries are being brought to life.
“There was a time we hoped Turkey would recognize its guilt in the Armenian Genocide issue, but now I am not sure in it. After the efforts of Turkey to join the EU failed, that country again returned to the Islamic agenda, deepening relations with countries presenting threat. It is a very dangerous development. The free world must jointly fight against such developments but with more sense than it did till now”, he said.
