Eduard Sharmazanov: Armenian Genocide is the shame of civilized humanity

YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS: “The international recognition of the Armenian Genocide is important not only for the Armenian people, but the whole humanity – not to allow the repetition of genocides”, spokesman for the Armenian Republican Party, Eduard Sharmazanov said today in Tsitsernakaberd. According to him, what was done in the beginning of the 20th century was the first genocide that took lives not only 1.5 million Armenians but about 1 million Greeks and Assyrians.

“I think not only Armenians must work over the issue but the leading international community, as the Armenian Genocide is the shame of civilized humanity. As far as the whole humanity has not recognized and condemned the Meds Yeghern, the threat that genocides may be committed in the 21st century, century of democracy still exists. Turkey must be able not to falsify the history and come into terms and accept it like the German government did toward Jewish”, the parliamentarian said.

According to him, no one rejects what happened in 1915, just stemming from political interests many do not utter the word “genocide”.
