Analyst: Turkish political machine undertakes standard steps on the eve of April 24

YEREVAN, APRIL 22, ARMENPRESS: On the eve of April 24 the Turkish political machine is undertaking standard steps and uses outdated mechanisms, Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan said today at the meeting with reporters, adding that delivery of ambassadors to parliaments of different countries is among these mechanisms. Their task is to suspend the adoption of resolution condemning Armenian Genocide.

The Turkologist noted that in its policy of denial Turkey makes amendments. ““Pro-Armenian” actions, like the action of apology of Turkish scientists, the current “It is our general pain” action, etc. are being conducted”, Melkonyan said, adding that these actions would have positive results if they were not politicized. According to him, through it Turkey is trying to change its political image and in reality it is “process for process”.

Speaking whether US President will utter the word “genocide” or not, the Turkologist said this possibility is near zero. “If he utters the word but it will not have legal consequences, it is not essential”, he said, adding that Obama must ask himself whether it is acceptable to use tragedy of a whole nation as subject for political trade.
