YEREVAN, APRIL 19, ARMENPRESS: Georgia depends on Turkey and it affects the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Georgia, chairman of the Center of Western Armenian Studies Haykazun Alvrtsyan said at a news conference today. According to him, today Georgia has big military-political benefit from Turkey, and the Turkish-Georgian alliance contains serious elements in it. He said these elements make Georgia depend on Turkey in a number of issues – economic, regional, etc.

“Both politically and in respect of social moods Georgia is not psychologically ready to recognize the fact of the Armenian Genocide. Moreover, when once or twice an attempt was made to raise the issue in the Georgian parliament, it was very quickly suppressed. Besides, the Azerbaijani side there felt more confident in its anti-Armenian appearances”, he said.

According to Alvrtsyan, every time the Armenian community organizes there different events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide anniversary. He said it is necessary to strengthen the Armenian propaganda there.
