YEREVAN, APRIL 18, ARMENPRESS: Mevlut Çavusoglu, the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly president, abused his obligations, says Zaruhi Postanjyan, member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, deputy of the National Assembly “Heritage” faction.
Presenting the results of the Armenian delegation’s activity during the PACE spring session, Zaruhi Postanjyan said today at a meeting with journalists that Cavusoglu did not give her the opportunity to ask Turkey’s prime minister a question. The deputy presented the question, she addressed Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu. The question was connected with the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Davutoglu called on not to use the PACE platform for historical debates.
As to the PACE monitoring committee sitting, Zaruhi Postanjyan says it was stated that the authorities’ reforms in the inner-political life are welcome and should be continuous. “The legislative field gives an opportunity to effect those reforms,” she mentioned.
Zaruhi Postanjyan informed that Thomas Hammarberg, the Council of Europe commissioner for human rights, will make a report on Armenia and will present it May. The MP added that this is a positive step.
