MP: Stepanakert airport will operate

YEREVAN, APRIL 15, ARMENPRESS: No turning point has been registered after the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to the region, head of the Republican Party of Armenia faction, vice-president of the party Galust Sahakyan said in a briefing at the National Assembly. “These are consecutive meetings directed toward reaching possible new result at peace talks”, Sahakyan stressed.

Referring to the April 14 statement of the co-chairs which touches upon the opening of the airport in Stepanakert, the parliamentarian said that the construction or not construction of the airport is outside of the circles of authority or discussion of the co-chairs. “The airport is being built and naturally must be exploited”, Sahakyan said.

Referring to the same statement of the co-chairs, Aram Safaryan, secretary of the Prosperous Armenia faction, said they defend the policy of the Armenian authorities on operation of the Stepanakert airport. “The operation of the Karabakh’s airport, the development of economy, reinforcement of ties not only with Armenia but with other countries is a contribution to the settlement of the conflict, and I urge to view the issue from this prospective,” Safaryan stressed.
