YEREVAN, APRIL 14, ARMENPRESS: Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg is concerned with the successive threats of Azerbaijan to shoot down the civil planes flying to Nagorno Karabakh.
“Of course, such like statements of Azerbaijan worry us and in general we are concerned with the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. I think it demands political solution, in the context of which the issues you voiced and the human rights issues will be solved,” Thomas Hammarberg said in response to the question of Naira Zohrabyan.
Hammarberg pointed out that in Karabakh conflict settlement issue they tie hopes with the OSCE Minsk Group within the framework of which the negotiations are going and they do not want to compete with it in this issue.
Speaking to Armenpress, Naira Zohrabyan considered the statement of Hammarberg remarkable, especially in case when the latter thinks that the Council of Europe must not start any process in parallel with Minsk Group in the Karabakh issue, unlike Mevlut Cavushoglu who is striving to resume the works of the NK sub-committee.
