Hrayr Karapetyan: Azerbaijan and Turkey use each international arena for anti-Armenian propaganda

YEREVAN, APRIL 5, ARMENPRESS: Azerbaijan and Turkey are trying to use each international arena for anti-Armenian propaganda, head of the NA’s ARF faction Hrayr Karapetyan stated at a news conference today. Days ago he participated in “Role of Parliaments in Control, Disarmament and Non-Spread of Mass Elimination” conference within the framework of NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” program.

According to Karapetyan, the delegations of Azerbaijan and Turkey did not miss the opportunity to voice that Armenia is an “occupant” as well as to speak about the “danger” of Metsamor atomic plant. “Moreover, though it was not the place and in general other topic was discussed Turks and Azerbaijanis were urging the international community to discuss the issue of closing the Metsamor nuclear power plant,” Karapetyan said.

In response, the latter said that the Metsamor plant is functioning without disturbances and until the construction of the new nuclear block the Metsamor will continue operating. “Especially in case when Armenia has no alternative, being blockaded by Turkey and Azerbaijan for more than 17 years,” Karapetyan said. Member of the ARF reminded that Turkey must not forget that days ago it reached agreement on construction of nuclear plant in case when that country is in seismic zone.

By the way, Karapetyan pointed out that the delegations of Turkey and Azerbaijan were quite representative while Armenia was represented by him only.

“The Azeris were not losing opportunity, shouting from their places, interrupting my speeches, remind as if Armenia “occupied” Azerbaijani territories,” Karapetyan pointed out.

In response to the Azerbaijani propaganda hysteria, Karapetyan, referring to the Karabakh issue, urged not to forget why they gathered in Geneva and that this conference is not a place to discuss the NK issue as it is being discussed in the OSCE Minsk Group format, to which the Azeri representative shouted that OSCE Minsk group does not justify itself.

Forty delegates from 25 countries participated in the conference.
