YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS: There is no need to establish a National Assembly ad-hoc committee for study of gas provision system operation, RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan said today at the hearing, organized by the NA standing committee on economic affairs.
The ARF faction had presented earlier a legislative initiative on establishment of National Assembly ad-hoc committee for study of gas provision system operation.
“A very obvious, transparent work is being carried out and there is no need to create any committee. The committee must have a mission, must fulfill a function. What the committee will do if everything is vivid?” Armen Movsisyan said. He added that the institutions, which deal with gas provision system, present regular reports on various issues in the system.
The minister says “ArmRosGasProm” company’s activity had some shortcomings; however “it does not mean that the company undertakes no any work in that direction”. “There is some misunderstanding in the society. People say air is provided together with gas. This must be made clear and one must state that in case of mixing air with gas the whole system will collapse,” the minister said.
He added that there are some achievements, connected with the home system service: the number of gas blasts decreased in the recent years.
According to Vahan Hovhannisyan, head of the ARF faction, the establishment of NA ad-hoc committee for study of gas provision system operation is a necessity. He says the committee can control the current state of gas provision system, compare it with the international experience, correct the trends of state regulation and give a political assessment to the impact of the situation, created in the sphere.
“We speak about the sum, spent for services in the gas provision system. But how this sum is spent? Maybe there are costs, which can be eliminated? We think that the committee can give answers to these questions,” Vahan Hovhannisyan said.
