Razmik Zohrabyan Says Hunger-Strike as Main Variant of Fight Not Acceptable

YEREVAN, APRIL 1, ARMENPRESS: I accept hunger-strike as a variant of fight, but not as a main variant, says Razmik Zohrabyan, deputy chairman of the ARP.

Commenting on the 15-day hunger-strike by Raffi Hovhannisyan, “Heritage” party leader, Razmik Zohrabyan said today at a meeting with journalists that he was on a hunger-strike for many times at Soviet jails. “I demanded independence of Armenia. However the hunger-strikes had some limits, and, thanks God, Raffi stopped the hunger-strike after 15 days,” Razmik Zohrabyan said.

As to the news, according to which some intellectuals, following Raffi Hovhannisyan, will go on a hunger-strike at the Freedom Square, he said that it is better they go on a hunger-strike at their homes. “They tend to impact on the feelings of the society, don’t they?” Razmik Zohrabyan said.

April 2 is the 21st anniversary of the Armenian Republican Party. Razmik Zohrabyan stated that the party endeavors to settle all those issues, mentioned in its 2007 and 2008 programs. He added that the issues were connected with not only inner, but also outer factors.

“There was an economic crisis: it had a stronger impact on much more powerful states, but actually we never study the damages they experienced. The crisis impacted on us as well, and if there was another political force, it would be impacted as well. This is quite natural,” the ARP deputy chairman said.
