YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS: International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) must activate its works in the direction of quest of the Armenians missed during the Karabakh liberation battle and repatriation, head of the “Council of Relatives of Missed Freedom Fighters” NGO Rima Arakelyan told Armenpress. She is also a member of the Commission on Issues of Captives, Hostages and Missed Persons.
According to her, the Armenian Party has presented to the ICRC distinct facts about 20 missed persons on being in Azerbaijan, but the ICRS is almost not engaged in this issue.
Mrs. Arakeyan said that at the moment they are preparing facts about 30 Armenians, which again prove that they are in Azerbaijan. “We will present this list to the ICRS too. I have already voiced about the passive activity of Armenia office in the ICRC headquarter in Switzerland. It is intended that the delegation of the Armenia office of the ICRC will soon wrap up its activity, and a new delegation will replace it. We hope that the cooperation with the latter will be at high level and works will be carried out in the direction of repatriation of our compatriots,” Mrs. Arakelyan said.
The number of the missed Armenians as a consequence of the Karabakh conflict exceeds the 1000, and that of Armenian citizens – the 400.
