Analyst: Official Baku reduces number of Azerbaijani victims and missed at Karabakh war

YEREVAN, MARCH 28, ARMENPRESS: The Azerbaijani official sources try to present a reduced number of the Azerbaijani missed at the Karabakh war as their number is not clear but is unequivocally bigger than it is being presented, political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan said speaking to Armenpress. He stressed that the studies made by Armenian experts showed that the number is twice reduced.

“The Azerbaijani propaganda machine is trying to hide the real number from its own citizens as the number of victims of war from the Azerbaijani side is huge. As of now we know few places of common graves where the Azerbaijani soldiers were buried. Part of them were not identified,” the analyst said, assuring that the information of the Azerbaijani branch of the International Committee of the Red Cross – 3701 people – fully expresses the policy carried out by the official Baku.

“Only during Karvathcar activities 5500 Azerbaijanis died including unknown victims and missed about who the official Azerbaijani sources say nothing. Of course it has its reasons as the son of the former president of Azerbaijan is trying to hide the mistakes committed by Heydar Aliyev. The reduction of numbers also has psychological, financial issues. It is done to close the eyes of Azerbaijani citizens on these facts,” Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
