Discussions over NK conflict at Swiss parliament

YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS: On the initiative of the Armenian-Swiss friendship parliamentary group discussions over the Nagorno Karabakh were held March 16 at the Swiss Parliament.

Press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Armenpress that co-chair of the Armenian-Swiss friendship parliamentary group Weli Leonberger and Dominique de Buman, the members of the friendship group, Secretary General Sargis Shahinyan, other parliamentarians, employees of Armenian Embassy in Switzerland and of the NKR mission in France, as well as representatives of NGOs participated in the discussions.

Chairman of the Armenian-Swiss parliamentary group Dominique de Buman noted that during the visit to Armenia in 2008 the group also visited Nagorno Karabakh, and that the current discussions have a goal to make the Swiss political circles competent on one of the most important issues for Armenia – Nagorno Karabakh conflict, its geographical-political consequences and issues as much as possible.

A number of experts came forth with a number of reports, including “The chronology of NK conflict and issues on human rights”, “The prospects of the NK conflict: the possible developments and their political consequences”.

The reports were followed by discussions in the format of interviews. The participants of the discussion were delivered brochures entitled “Nagorno Karabakh: Human Rights, International Law and Geographical-Political Aspects” prepared by the efforts of the Armenian-Swiss parliamentary group.
