Number of International Grants in Sphere of Science Decreases

1 minute read

YEREVAN, MARCH 16, ARMENPRESS: The number of the grants, provided by international organizations, in the sphere of science has decreased, according to Samvel Harutyunyan, chairman of the RA education and science ministry’s state committee of science. He said today in an interview with Armenpress that this fact is connected with the changes in the international organizations’ policy of grant provision.

“In the past, scientific grants were being provided to the CIS states as a humanitarian aid, and now partnership project proposals have become more frequent,” Samvel Harutyunyan said. He added that it is much more difficult to receive a grant with a partnership program, as in that case the scientific result of a certain country must be of a global level to receive a grant.

This year the state science committee’s budget makes 25 million USD. “If we count the 7 million USD grant projects, the total science budget will make 32-33 million USD,” he said.
