YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 17, ARMENPRESS: Turkey has always been against Armenia in all international organizations, defending the Azerbaijani initiatives and resolutions, turkologist Artak Shakaryan told Armenpress, referring to the request of supporting Turkish Ersin Ercin in the office of OSCE Secretary General by Armenia.
“It was unbelievable from the very beginning that Armenia would positively respond or would support the candidate,” Mr. Shakaryan noted, adding that it was impossible especially on the background of Armenian-Turkish “frozen” protocols. “Unfortunately, if Ersi is elected in the office of OSCE Secretary General, he will try to influence on the OSCE policy toward Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation,” the turkologist expressed discontent.
He considered the response of the Armenian Foreign Affairs Ministry right, which mentioned that Armenia will not support the candidacy of the Turkish diplomat in the office of OSCE Secretary General. “This was an answer very consonant with the situation,” Mr. Shakaryan stressed.
