YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, ARMENPRESS: All the propaganda means of Azerbaijan are used for exerting pressure on Iran; however Iran is not the state, which would bow to such pressure, according to Davit Jamalyan, military expert. He said today at a meeting with journalists that the January 29 agreement between Armenia and Iran to build an oil pipeline naturally evoked a keen response in Azerbaijan and that is why anti-Iranian statements ‘are being made already on a state level’.
‘If we follow the speeches of Azerbaijani deputies, we will see that they call on to interfere in the internal policy of Iran. I think this will have bad consequences mainly for Azerbaijan, not for Iran,’ the military expert said. According to Mher Baghdasaryan, Iranologist, ‘the anti-Iranian hysterics’ is not a new phenomenon: it has a long history. ‘Everything started December 31, when President Aliev stated that he is the president of Azerbaijanis of the world, regarding Turkish-speaking Iranians as well. This naturally evoked a keen response in Iran.
This all was brought to a point, when anti-Iranian statements started to be made in the Azerbaijani Majlis and they blamed Iran for cooperating with Armenia,’ the Iranologist said. Mher Baghdasaryan mentioned that Azerbaijan also tends to raise the issue of Azerbaijanis, living in Iran, and seeks some territorial achievements. ‘However there is no national minority in Iran: they all our religious minorities,’ he said.
