Hayk Demoyan: Request to back Turkish candidate at elections of the OSCE Secretary General must not be treated seriously

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, ARMENPRESS: The request to Armenia to support the candidacy of Turkish Ersin Erchin in the office of the OSCE Secretary General must not be treated seriously, director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan said speaking to Armenpress. He pointed out that from the very beginning the Turks clearly understood that their step is not serious. “They were expecting that the Armenian side will be involved in these unserious steps irrespective of their will, or in case of not being involved they just wanted to create a new resource to accuse the Armenia side in non-constructive steps,” Demoyan emphasized.

In his opinion, this step in the background of ruining the general process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is ridiculous. “We must work that the international community perceive this step in the pre-context of ruined process by Turkey,” Demoyan said.

Earlier Armenpress reported that the RA Foreign Ministry stated that Armenia will not back Turkish candidate in the office of the OSCE Secretary General.
