YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 2, ARMENPRESS: PACE Subcommittee of Nagorno Karabakh will either complicate the negotiation process or will become a senseless format, Director of the Armenian branch of the CIS Countries Institute, political specialist Alexander Margarov said, stressing that from the very beginning that subcommittee was set up to provide a dialogue between the parties, but the PACE format is not convenient for it, as all the agreements gained are within the framework of the OSCE Minsk group.
According to him, members of the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations will be presented at the committee. “It is interesting how that committee will work if the Armenian party boycotts its works. Will the NK issue be discussed only by the President and Azerbaijani parliamentarians?” Mr. Margarov said, adding that Azerbaijan has better think of the visit of the PACE monitoring team, which will conduct February 1-3 a monitoring on the works in the direction of making the activity of democratic institutes and legal system of Azerbaijan corresponding to the European ones.
Political specialist Yervand Bozoyan is of the opinion that the subcommittee cannot play any positive role in the negotiation process, as it has been indirectly used by Turkey to have influence on the negotiations taking into consideration the circumstance that currently the PACE is chaired by Mevlut Chavushoglu who is of Russian descent.
“I think that the main task of our delegation at PACE must be the providing of the logical end of that subcommittee,” the political specialist pointed out.
