Russian expert: Attempts of military solution of Karabakh issue to bring to disaster

YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS: The Karabakh issue must not get a military solution, as it will bring to a disaster, Russian expert, Director General of the Center for Political Conjuncture Sergey Mikheev said today at a meeting with journalists. He noted that in case of resuming of the war both parties will give over thousands of victims.

According to the expert, the infrastructural projects will be stopped. “In case of resuming of the war in that territory, an end will be put to all European dreams and projects,” Mr. Mikheev noted. He also said that the military activities will result in a long-lasting terrorist and partisan war. “As a result, all will suffer, and nobody will win,” the expert said.

Among all those consequences he pointed out the huge expenses, the big flows of refugees, which will harm the economic situation. “The war will hit the inner-political situation of Azerbaijan and Armenia as well,” the expert said adding that the attempts of a military solution will only bring to numerous issues and problems. In his opinion, no matter how long the negotiations last; they are better than numerous victims,” Mr. Mikheev said.

He also said that Russia has an opportunity of becoming the main mediator, we can expect some negotiations from it, but the matter is that first it is Baku and Yerevan that cannot come to an agreement and not Moscow-Baku-Yerevan, Washington-Baku-Yerevan or Brussels-Baku-Yerevan.
