YEREVAN, JANUARY 19, ARMENPRESS: No any advancement will be registered in the Armenian-Turkish Relations until the second half of 2011, according to Alexander Iskandaryan, political scientist. He said today at a press conference that this pause is connected with Turkey’s forthcoming parliamentary elections.
‘After the elections some advancement may be registered in case everything is in its proper place in the political life of Turkey,’ Alexander Iskandaryan said.
As to RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech in Cyprus, the political scientist said the President’s statements were not new, as Serzh Sargsyan presented to the international community the results, registered in the process of regulation of the Armenian-Turkish relations and the NK issue. Alexander Iskandaryan said the President also responded to the war-calling rhetoric of the Azerbaijani authorities.
The visit of President of Georgia Mikhail Sahakashvili to Yerevan is expected in the near future. Alexander Iskandaryan says such meetings are important to both countries. There are a number of Armenian-Georgian issues, the solution of which has a great significance for us.
‘Georgia is one of the two neighbors, the territory of which is important for Armenia for cargo transportation and connection with the outer world,’ the political scientist said.
He added that the Armenian political forces will get prepared for the forthcoming parliamentary elections of 2011 and that changes will be registered in the Armenian internal political life only in the second half of the year.
