YEREVAN, JANUARY 18, ARMENPRESS: The independence of the South Sudan shows the serious changes of accents in the rules of the international game. Head of the Analytical Center of Globalization and Regional Cooperation, political analyst Stepan Grigoryan said speaking to Armenpress that all the conflicts differ from one another but there are several features that unite them. As one of these features the political analyst singled out the tendency of priority of the self-determination principle over the territorial integrity principle.
“Of course the independence of the African countries in 1960s in a de-colonization way has nothing to do with the Nagorno Karabakh issue but the fact that during the recent period a number of states are getting independence on the basis of self-determination like Eritrea or South Sudan is directly connected with the NK and may be useful for the settlement of the issue,” Grigoryan pointed out.
He said that in the contemporary world the Kosovo’s independence is also a fact and it has again been achieved on the basis of self-determination. “The general tendency works in favor of the NK and the people of Nagorno Karabakh move forward through the path of self-determination,” he emphasized.
