Richard Kirakossyan – Armenia conducting clever policy toward Turkey

YEREVAN, JANUARY 10, ARMENPRESS: Armenia conducts a quite clever policy toward Turkey – in other words all the expectations are from Turkey and pressures are on Turkey. Political analyst, director of the Armenia Center for National and International Studies Richard Kirakossyan told Armenpress that Turkey has not decided yet what it wants and when it wants in relations with Armenia.

“It is Turkey’s guilt that the diplomacy did not work and the world knows it. This makes Armenia stronger,” Kirakossyan said, adding that he does not think that diplomatic process directed toward normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations will resume not sooner than after the parliamentary elections in Turkey in June of the next year. According to him, in Armenia both parliamentary and presidential elections will not have big impact as during them the main topics for discussion will be domestic issues.

“It is interesting that in the issue of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations Russia and USA assist the Armenian side and not the Turkish one. Currently, Turkey’s position has weakened because of issues with Israel and the USA,” Kirakossyan said, adding that it is obvious that Turkey is not frank in its wish to normalize relations with Armenia. “In spite of all what Turks are saying, Turkey has lost the game,” the political analyst said.
