Poghos Shahinyan says compulsory insurance has been applied for the defense of interests of citizens

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: There is no need to oppose the compulsory insurance, in reality it solves a big social issue and has been applied for defense of interests of citizens, head of the National Council of Road Traffic Security Poghos Shahinyan said speaking to Armenpress. He said the majority does not realize, they are boycotting but it is being done for them.
“When we were applying the compulsory using of seat-belts, many were against, saying there is no need of doing it, but now everyone is pleased. For those who have money there is no issue to insure car, it is an issue for the one who does not have money,” he said. Compulsory insurance types have mainly social orientation and their goal is protection of people’s interests.
Twelve insurance companies are functioning in the republic, while in 1991-1996, after independence, 82 insurance companies were registered in the republic.
