Rafik Petrosyan: RA President issued no decree on starting a criminal action against Gagik Beglaryan

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS: RA President has not issued a decree on starting a criminal action against former Mayor Gagik Beglaryan, member of the NA Armenian Republican Party faction Rafik Petrosyan stated today at a meeting with journalists. According to him, his interview given two days ago to a radio station was presented in a false way.

“I have said that the Armenian President, as head of state, is responsible for normal activity of all wings of leadership, and he can give assignments on different issues, including, on starting a criminal action. But I have not mentioned that the President has issued such a decree,” Mr. Petrosyan said.

He said that the falsely spread information was later denied by the same radio-station. Referring to Gagik Beglaryan’s resignation and beating of an employee, Mr. Petrosyan noted that it is unacceptable and condemnable. He expressed confidence that if other officials continue suchlike behavior, the president of the republic will come forth with the same strict position, irrespective of the thing who is the suffering party.
