YEREVAN, DECEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President’s speech showed that Astana was a progress for Armenia, Deputy Chairman of the Armenian Republican Party Razmik Zohrabyan said today at a meeting with journalists, attaching importance to the speeches of heads and high ranking officials of other countries on the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh.

“In his speech the Russian President once more pointed out the necessity of not application of force, US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton stressed that all the principles of regulation of the conflict are equal, and our president’s speech showed the whole dynamics of development of the conflict,” Mr. Zohrabyan said, adding that if Azerbaijan tries to resume a war, big states will exert pressure on it. “It is natural that in a certain stage of negotiations Nagorno Karabakh must participate in them, but obstacles are rising for it, hence it will become possible only after overcoming them,” Razmik Zohrabyan said.

He attached importance to the aspect in Armenian President’s speech, according to which if Azerbaijan resumes a war, Armenia will recognize the NK independence. “And will not only recognize, but will also sign an agreement of mutual support and will support Karabakh,” Mr. Zohrabyan said. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Armenian Republican Party, the statements of Azerbaijani officials after Astana prove that Azerbaijan has not changed its position, but the reference to the UN Charter in the joint statement of the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk group and Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents is sufficient basis for us to recognize the independence of Nagorno Karbakh.
