Karen Avagyan: ‘It was stressed in Astana, that the OSCE Minsk group remains the only accepted format for the regulation of the NK issue’

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: The OSCE Minsk group co-chairing states expressed their clear-cut approaches in Astana, according to Karen Avagyan, NA deputy, head of Armenian parliamentary delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly, head of youth wing of Armenian Republican Party.
He said today in an interview with Armenpress that the statement, the OSCE Minsk group co-chairing states made today during the OSCE summit in Astana, made clear that ‘the OSCE Minsk group remains the only accepted format for the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue’.
He says the statement showed that Armenia leads a right policy in this direction and that it is true to the basic principles for the regulation of the conflict. ‘It was stressed once again that none of the three principles has superiority over the other ones,’ Karen Avagyan said.
As to the address of RA President Serzh Sargsyan, Karen Avagyan said it was ‘a brilliant speech, which concluded Armenia’s position on the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue and revealed the real image of Azerbaijan, its warlike statements and military rhetoric’.
‘Ilham Aliev did not have any political will; that is why he did not meet with the President of Armenia. The Azerbaijani President had expressed contrary views in various statements, so he just did not have the courage to partake in the meeting,’ he said.
Karen Avagyan says the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs stated that ‘it is the high time for the implementation of the famous principles and that the settlement of the conflict is unavoidable’. He added that it was a notice for Azerbaijan.
