YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS: No any essential document on the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue will be signed during the OSCE summit in Astana, according to Manvel Sargsyan, political scientist. He said today in an interview with Armenpress that the OSCE makes decisions through consensus. If a decision does not correspond to the vital interests of a member-state, the latter can set a veto on the decision.
Manvel Sargsyan says it is possible that a middle agreement on humanitarian issues will be signed at the summit. ‘I do not think that Azerbaijan is ready to recognize the right of the people of the Nagorno Karabakh to self-determination, so I do not expect any serious decision to be adopted,’ the political scientist said. He added that Azerbaijan tends to make its principles on the regulation of the NK issue compulsory for the international community.
‘I think Armenia must stand firm upon this issue and not make any concession until it is mutual,’ Manvel Sargsyan said. As to the next regional visit of the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs, the political scientist said the operation of the co-chairs became more active. He said it is connected with the OSCE summit in Astana. ‘They endeavor to show that their activity brings to some results, that is why they tend to find a shred of consensus,’ Manvel Sargsyan said.
