The positions of the USA and France on NK conflict regulation have not changed

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS: In the 35th point of the concluding declaration of the NATO summit in Lisbon the summit notes that NATO supports in territorial integrity, independence and self-government of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova, and that the alliance will continue to support in peaceful regulation of conflicts in these regions, based on the above mentioned principles.

In regard to this point, “Radiolur” news program of the Public Radio Company has asked an official illustration from the U.S. and French Embassies in Armenia connected with the position of USA and France connected with regulation of the NK conflict.

In the answer provided to “Radiolur” the co-chairing countries on behalf of their presidents have repeatedly stated about their position on the regulation of the issue, which is - the conflict must be regulated on the principles of not application of force, territorial integrity and self-determination right of peoples. While in NATO declaration of Lisbon a point was included, where the former generalized formulation in South Caucasian conflicts was preserved.

By the way, that formulation does not suit the statements of the presidents on regulation process of the NK conflict made previously.

In response, an official from the U.S. Embassy in Armenia said that the United States continues to remain faithful to peaceful and lasting solution of the conflict by means of the Minsk group.

The official answer of the French Embassy in Armenia is: “France, as co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk group, continues to remain faithful to the negotiated regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, based on the principles of the Helsinki concluding act – on the principles of not application of force or threat, territorial integrity and self determination, as well as on the elements included in the joint statements of Obama , Sarkozy and Medvedev made in L’ Aquila and Muskoka”.
